OXFORDSHIRE is set for heavy rain and high winds tomorrow as the effects of Hurricane Bertha are felt across the UK.
The Met Office has issued a yellow warning of rain from 12.15am until 11.45pm and has warned the situation is volatile and could change at short notice.
People have been advised to keep checking the forecast for updates.
Music festivals Wilderness and Supernormal are likely to be affected by the rain, but Cropredy, which ends today, should escape the worst of the elements.
The tail-end of Hurricane Bertha passed over the mid-Atlantic yesterday morning and will be followed by a depression, causing the bad weather.
Met Office chief forecaster Eddy Carroll said: “There is the potential for rainfall totals of more than 50mm in places.
“The transition from a tropical to an extra-tropical feature is a particularly hard one to forecast but there is inreasing confidence that it will affect the UK, though with very large uncertainty remaining over the track and intensity.”
Lighter rain originally forecast for today is now not expected, with the Met Office predicting an overcast day with sunny intervals.
A yellow warning is the second lowest level of weather warning for rain and means people should prepare for minor flooding and some disruption to travel.
Hurricane Bertha started in the Bahamas earlier this week and has left thousands of home in the Caribbean without power.
