FIREFIGHTERS were called to four incidents during strike action on Friday and Saturday over pension reforms.

Four periods of national industrial action were called by the Fire Brigades Union – two on each day – with non-striking firefighters providing cover.

During the first strike on Friday between noon and 2pm, firefighters were called to a reported gas leak in Banbury Road, Oxford, that was a false alarm.

During the second strike, between 11pm and 11.59pm, units were called to an alarm set off by a water leak at Travelodge, Pear Tree.

Two strikes at the same time were held on Saturday and firefighters were called to a three-vehicle accident on Aynho Road, Adderbury, at 12.46pm.

They were also called to a two-car collision in Oxford Street, Woodstock at 1.15pm. Crews took no action at both.

There were no incidents during the second strike on Saturday – the last day of a week of strike action.
