A LIGHT covering of snow is expected across Oxfordshire tomorrow morning.

According to the latest Met Office forecast, Oxford, Witney, Bicester, Didcot, Wallingford, Banbury and Chipping Norton will all wake up to light snow with further snow expected during the evening.

A light dusting is predicted in town centres, while in rural parts there could be an accumulation of up to one centimetre.

Some parts of the county including Chipping Norton, Carterton, Witney and Church Enstone, woke up to some snow on Saturday Flood alerts issued by the Environment Agency were still in place yesterday for parts of Oxfordshire. One was issued at the weekend for the River Thames and tributaries in the Oxford area between Wolvercote down to and including Radley and Jericho.

One for above Oxford included Buscot, Kelmscott, Radcot, Chimney, Northmoor, Stanton Harcourt, Bablock Hythe and caravan park, Eynsham, Swinford and Yarnton.

A further alert remained in place for the River Ray and its tributaries from Shipton Lee to Islip after recent rainfall had caused river levels to rise, with flooding of low-lying land and roads expected.

Properties were not expected to be flooded.

An alert was lifted yesterday along the River Thames for the Abingdon area and along the River Cherwell and its tributaries from Lower Heyford down to Oxford including Rousham, Enslow, Thrupp and Hampton Poyle.

Heavy rain is forecast on Friday night in Witney, Bicester, Didcot, Wallingford and Banbury.
