YOUNGSTERS crafted a wave of water bottles to raise awareness of poverty-stricken families across the world.

Students from Abingdon’s Larkmead School and Rush Common School came together for their Message in a Bottle exhibition.

The art project aimed to raise cash for charities, including Oxfam and WaterAid, providing clean and safe water to people across the world.

Youngsters got creative and crafted self-portraits before putting them into empty water bottles for the wave sculpture.

Larkmead School pupil Joe Gisborne, 13, said: “It’s great. We are just raising awareness for Oxfam and the Water Aid charity because over 1,400 children die every day.”

The sculpture was displayed at Didcot’s Cornerstone Arts Centre, in Station Road, on Sunday to mark World Water Day, which is held on March 22 each year.
