DIDCOT Town returned to winning ways after their home defeat by Taunton with a 3-1 victory at AFC Totton in Evo-Stik Southern League Division 1 South & West.

Matty Woodley, making his first start of the season, opened the scoring with an unstoppable effort from 30 yards and Lance Williams headed home a second.

Just before the break, Totton reduced the defeat through Nathaniel Sherborne.

The Hampshire side pressured Didcot in the second half and Leigh Bedwell made a good save to deny Craig Feeney.

But Jack Powell slotted past Steve Mowthorpe for his first senior goal to seal all three points for the Railwaymen.

The winners of Didcot Town’s FA Cup preliminary round tie at Wantage on Friday night will face a tough tie in first round qualifying, with a visit to Ryman Premier League side VCD Athletic.

Meanwhile, Abingdon United put in a much-improved performance against Tuffley Rovers on Saturday, but they still lost 2-1. The defeat leaves them rooted to the bottom of the Uhlsport Hellenic League Premier Division.

Abingdon began well with Jack Ross heading home.

But Rovers hit back with two goals in as many minutes.

Ashley Davis levelled on 75 minutes, and then Anthony Herrin nodded in.
