THREE teenage boys have been arrested on suspicion of arson following a huge fire that ripped through a barn in East Hanney.

The blaze started at about 4pm on Friday at the barn in Steventon Road opposite La Fontana restaurant.

Oxfordshire Fire and Rescue Service said there were 100 tonnes of straw inside the barn, which was fully engulfed in the flames, and the fire could be seen for miles around.

Firefighters were still on site last night dampening down and burning off straw inside the ruined building.

A neighbour, who wished to remain anonymous, said: “The barn burned for two days solid. It was big blaze, you could feel the heat coming off it.”

Firefighters confirmed nobody was at the barn when it caught fire.

Steventon Road was closed on Friday night but reopened Saturday morning.

Yesterday, police said two 13-year-old boys and a 15-year-old boy have been arrested on suspicion of arson, and bailed.
