GRITTERS will salt Oxfordshire's roads from 8pm as temperatures plummet across the county.
Gale force winds are set to sweep in snow and rain tonight through Saturday.
The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for the severe conditions from 9pm on Friday onwards.
Oxfordshire County Council said it was deploying its gritters tonight to major road links and known problem sites.
The council said it manages to treat 43 per cent of the road network in the county.
It added: "We anticipate that each salting route will take approximately three hours to complete. All routes will be undertaken simultaneously.
"We aim to have all work completed before ice would form on road surfaces."
