Brace of Welsh headliners announced for expanded three day Truck festival

Manic Street Preachers and Catfish and the Bottlemen are to headline this summer’s Truck music festival, it has been revealed tonight.

The two Welsh acts top the bill at the expanded event, at Hill Farm, Steventon, near Didcot, which for the first time will take place over three days, rather than the traditional two.

The line-up, for the 19th instalment of the festival, from July 15-17, also includes Mercury Prize-winners Young Fathers, Everything Everything, Circa Waves, Pretty Vicious, Creeper, Rat Boy and new Oxfordshire resident Jack Savoretti.

Manic Street Preachers - James Dean Bradfield, Nicky Wire and Sean Moore – will top the bill on the Saturday. The band are best known for hits Motorcycle Emptiness, Your Love Alone, Design for Life, and If You Tolerate This Your Children Will Be Next.

The band will also be performing tunes from more recent projects Rewind The Film and Futurology.

Catfish and the Bottlemen will grace the main stage on the Friday.

Rock fans will be happy with the addition of We Are The Ocean, Gnarwolves and Creeper.

They will be joined by The Magic Gang, Formation, Louis Berry and Hooton Tennis Club.

Local talent is represented by Pixel Fix, Willie J Healey and Esther Joy Lane.

Many more names are to be announced for the gathering – which has always prided itself on a diverse bill covering pop, rock, punk, dance, folk and country.

Truck festival was founded by brothers Robin and Joe Bennett, now of the band The Dreaming Spires, who hail from the village. It takes it name from its traditional use of a truck trailer for a stage.

Over the past 18 years the festival has grown, making it one of the country’s best-loved weekends of music. Previous acts to play the event include Oxford band Foals, Supergrass and The Young Knives, Radiohead's Philip Selway, Basement Jaxx, Peter Hook of New Order, The Mystery Jets, The XX, Biffy Clyro and The Charlatans.
