HELEN Grindey, one of the founders of Didcot Netball Club, won a top award at Oxfordshire’s Goalden Globes awards night.
Grindey won the Muriel McNally award for her contribution to the club over many years.
She has been instrumental in obtaining summer training space via Didcot Town Council, and continues to campaign for club facilities.
Grindey was nominated by fellow Didcot member Mandy Blair, who said: “Helen has built the club from scratch and devotes a huge amount of time to the junior teams, especially as she manages all the junior administration and parent liaison on top of her coaching duties.”
“Her experience, enthusiasm and commitment to netball and our club is exceptional and this award rightly acknowledges this.”
Grindey now qualifies to attend the regional Goalden Globes in July, when she will be up against all the other Muriel McNally award winners across the country.
The night also celebrated the winners of each of the Oxfordshire Winter League divisions.
Didcot’s Galaxies team picked up their award for winning Division 3. They scored a staggering 872 goals in 17 matches.
