OXFORD United fans were treated to a free short back and sides ahead of Saturday's crunch clash with Wycombe Wanderers.

Andy's Barbers in Sheep Street, Bicester, gave the free trims to willing fans yesterday as part of the build-up to the game, with a win guaranteeing promotion to League One for the U's.

Owner Andy Willis said he decided to offer free haircuts as a way to "give something back".

He added: "It was brilliant, the response was fantastic. We had eight barbers working from 8.30am and got 25 fans.

"The great thing about it was they were from all over. We had fans from Oxford, Kidlington, and Bicester all talking about the game.

"We had barber consultant Kevin Vorley come to the shop to teach some of the new recruits and I just thought it would be a good opportunity to offer people if they wanted a free haircut."

Ahead of United's trip to Wembley in April, Mr Willis decked out the shop in Yellows memorabilia to celebrate the run up.
