A 26-YEAR-OLD man has been charged with assault by beating and possessing an offensive weapon in public after an incident in Beech Lane, Didcot on Sunday night.
Jamie Dennington, of no fixed address, was arrested after people were called to the town's Greenway development at 9.25pm.
A resident, who asked not to be named, said he had seen up to 15 police officers on site as well as a police dog.
He said: "I've never seen so many police. It was pretty scary."
Thames Valley Police spokeswoman Holly Claydon-Bevan said: "A 26-year-old man from Didcot was arrested in Beech Lane in connection with an assault and possession of a bladed item.
"He is currently in police custody."
Police could not confirm how many officers attended or if anyone was hurt but stated Mr Dennington will appear at Oxford Magistrates' Court today.
