ONE final push is needed to raise as much money as possible from the OX5 Run to reach the £1m target for Oxford Children's Hospital.

The hospital's charity are confident more than £100,000 has been raised so far from Sunday's run but urged people to keep donating.

Many of the teams who completed the five-mile course have pledged to keep going and bring in as much cash as possible for the hospital's 10th Anniversary Appeal.

Team Remy and Ralph, led by Bicester mums Rebecca Clarke and Rachel Payne raised more than £2,000 on Sunday and say they are nowhere near done yet.

Mrs Clarke, whose three-year-old son Remy was rushed to hospital in July 2014 with potentially fatal meningitis and sepsis, said: "Remy is doing great now and we just want to keep giving back to the hospital and the OX5 Run has been fantastic for that.

"In this 10th anniversary year we want to raise £10,000, with the help of Rachel and another mum Julia Spargo."

Money from Sunday's event will feed into the anniversary appeal which will fund a new 62-bedroom Ronald McDonald House for parents of children on the wards.

It will also raise money for vital equipment, monitoring devices and play areas.

Blenheim Palace was in party mode at the weekend with an array of fancy dress costumes to add more cash to the fundraising pot.

A team from Tom's Ward - the hospital's surgical ward - dressed up as superheroes for the occasion.

Nurse Emma Willis said: "It was a really lovely day and we saw some of the familiar faces we treat on the wards which was nice.

"We know first hand how valuable these fundraising efforts are and it gave us more motivation to get round the course.

"It's great to do something for the children's hospital and I hope people continue to donate."
