ONE of Britain’s most successful female Olympians has revealed some of her favourite cycle routes are in Oxfordshire.

Victoria Pendleton, who now lives in the county, won sprint gold at the 2008 Olympics in Beijing and gold for the Keirin event at the London Olympics in 2012.

She retired that year – having won nine gold medals at the World Championships throughout her career.

The 37-year-old told BT: “There’s a lovely route in Oxfordshire, which goes from Woodstock through Glympton, Middle Barton and Nether Worton, to Barford St Michael.”

She lives in Oxfordshire with her husband, sports scientist Scott Gardner. They married in 2013.
