NARNIA can no longer be found off the A4130 after maintenance teams from Oxfordshire County Council removed fantastical place names from Didcot road signs.
Despite prompting much amusement since they appeared at the weekend, the five signs - which also directed drivers to Middle Earth and Gotham City - are now back to normal.
The county council had previously declared the modifications 'vandalism' that could distract drivers.
But 88 per cent of Oxford Mail readers had backed them to stay in an online poll.
An anonymous 'artist' claimed credit for the prank earlier today, telling the BBC: "I never intended to create any form of vandalism, purely a spectacle for people to remember.
"To destroy someone else’s property, that was never my intention. My intention was to create and build on something positive.”
