THE ex-wife of a man accused of stealing thongs and sex toys found underwear that was not hers in the home they shared, a court heard.

Perry Granville, of Saxton Road, Abingdon, denies one count of burglary, one of attempted burglary and two counts of theft.

Despite failing to attend court today, a portion of the trial went ahead in his absence.

Oxford Crown Court heard at the start of his trial how, when police started investigating apparent clothing thefts in Abingdon, they discovered a haul of women’s and children’s underwear as well as vibrators in two garages.

Yesterday jurors heard a transcript from a police interview with Perry, 39, held in August 2016.

During the interview, police raised allegations made by Granville’s ex-wife, his relationship with whom ended about 15 years ago.

She had said she found some woman’s underwear that was not hers in a property the couple had shared somewhere in Abingdon.

When put to Granville, he initially said ‘no comment’ and then mentioned having ‘problems’ with his ex.

Granville, when questioned about other items of women’s underwear found in the garages, consistently responded by saying he had no knowledge of them.

The trial continues.
