FARMOOR Reservoir hosted a free sailing session for locals on Saturday.
Oxford Sail Training Trust invited the public to its base to give the sport a go and bask in the sizzling sun on the water.
From 10am to 4pm, locals of all ages and experience levels were invited to get afloat with the guidance of the centre’s expert instructors.
As temperature topped 30 degrees it was a perfect day for a dip in the cooling reservoir.
More than ten locals hopped aboard single sail crafts for a hands on experience of the popular water sport.
The session was a joint initiative with the Royal Yachting Association (RYA) as part of efforts to get more people involved with water sports across the UK.
Ahead of the event, Susie Moore, the RYA’s south regional development officer, said: “We’re super excited to be giving more people the chance to have a go at something new this summer.
“Our national Push The Boat Out ‘try sailing’ festival throughout May saw thousands of people across the south have a go for the first time, with hundreds joining clubs and signing up to learn to sail on the spot.
“To extend that and get even more people out on the water is brilliant.”
