AN ELDERLY man has died after his Landrover crashed into an HGV tanker near Wallingford this morning.

The man, who was in his 80s and from Oxfordshire, was treated by paramedics but pronounced dead at the scene.

Thames Valley Police officers were called to a road traffic collision on the A4130 on Crowmarsh Hill near the cross roads with Icknield Way, near Wallingford, at 11.30am.

South Central Ambulance Service also attended the incident as emergency services put a number of road closures in place.

These have now been lifted and traffic is flowing smoothly.

The man's next of kin have been informed and are being supported by specially trained officers. The driver of the tanker was uninjured.

Enquiries are ongoing and no arrests have been made.
