A DIDCOT-based opticians has celebrated its 80th anniversary in retro style.

Staff at Scrivens Opticians and Hearing Care saw fit to turned the clock back and host a 1930s' style tea party, to mark 80 years since the national company was founded.

The team dressed for the occasion and brought out the bunting, balloons and cake to share with customers.

Based on the Broadway, the branch also held a raffle in aid of their chosen charity, Alzheimer’s Society.

Lisa Morgan, manager at the branch, said: “We are proud to be part of Scrivens Opticians, which was founded 80 years ago and remains a family business to this day.

“Being 80 is a real achievement and we pride ourselves on our traditional family values in terms of delivering personal customer care and high standards.

"We had a great time celebrating with our wonderful customers.”

Scrivens Opticians and Hearing Care is a family-run business which was established in 1938.

It has 182 stores across England and Wales and employs more than 1,100 staff members.

Alongside eyecare, the Didcot branch provides diabetic screening, hearing checks and various services related to hearing aids.
