BREATHTAKING air displays, 100 classic cars and heart-stopping motorcycle stunts will come to Oxfordshire this bank holiday weekend.

The Uffington White Horse Show is returning with a packed line up for the whole family, with fairground rides, food stalls and farmyard animals also on offer at the two-day extravaganza.

Thousands are expected at the 20-acre showground between Uffington and Fawler, near Faringdon, on Sunday and Monday.

Geoff Rumble, show treasurer, said: “We attracted seven-and-a-half thousand visitors last year and even when the weather is against us, we can reckon to have over five thousand turn up with wellies and brollies.”

The show is a major charity event in Oxfordshire, having raised well over half a million pounds in the more than 40 years it has been running and close to one hundred thousand pounds in the last four years.

Crowds are drawn by the wide variety of activities on offer, as well as the thrills and excitement from bike and air display teams.

Among the performers at this year’s event will be Lauren Richardson, one of the top aerobatic display pilots in the UK, who will wow crowds by taking to the skies with her red modified Pitts Special biplane.

There will also be tricks on the ground by BMX Show and Jason Smyth’s adrenaline-fuelled motorcycle display.

One of the busiest attractions will put novices through their paces at traditional country pursuits including archery, target and clay pigeon shooting, with experienced guides on hand to offer support.

Vintage motorbikes, class cars and historic tractors will also be on display across the two days, as well as more than 70 indoor and outdoor pop-up shops selling everything from clothing, leather goods, hand made jewellery and ornaments, to cakes, tools, cards and paintings.

Food and drink will come from dozens of traders catering to all tastes, including a traditional ice cream van.

Alongside the traditional beer tent there will also be a Prosecco stand for the first time this year, complete with personalised White Horse Show cocktails.

There will be live music from the Ukey Dukes and the Wantage Silver Band.

Animal lovers will also be spoilt for choice with a dog show, horses pulling carts, Millets Farm falconry and beekeeping.

Farmer Gow’s activity farm in Farington will also be bringing along animals large and small for people to meet. A special children’s zone will feature go-kart racing, arts and crafts play area, and Punch and Judy show.

Tickets are £12.50 for adults, children aged five-16 are £4 and those aged four and under are free. There is also free parking at the site.
