THE heavy rain which spoiled so many Sunday events yesterday even spoilt the criminals' weekend plans, it seems.
Thames Valley Police officers have said the downpour - combined with their own high-visibility patrols - resulted in zero reports of rural crime in at least one area of Oxfordshire.
The South and Vale team tweeted this morning to proudly announce that they didn't have a single report of rural crime in the Thame and Watlington areas over the weekend.
The heavy rain and our extensive hi viz patrols has resulted in 0 reports of #ruralcrime around the #Thame and #Watlington area this weekend. We are also seeing a reduction in reports of thefts from vehicles at our beauty spot car parks. #leaveitonshowexpectittogo #C6795 pic.twitter.com/bgsRcx4Clu

They also said they were seeing a reduction in thefts from beauty spots, which officers had said over the weekend had been a growing problem.
The Wantage and Faringdon team said they had to deal with four separate thefts from cars parked at beauty spots in their patch on Friday, including one hungry thief who stole a picnic basket.
