Penk leaves Fox FM early

FOX FM DJ Steve Penk has presented his last show for the radio station after quitting earlier than expected.

The host had been set to leave next month after announcing his resignation on air in January, citing "internal politics".

But he ended his year-long stint last Friday. Programme controller Helen Grimes said: "He had a little bit of leave to take up."

Neil Williams is Fox's temporary new breakfast-show host.

Well last week he said he told everyone he had 2 weeks to go, and then he just disappears.

Hmmm, bit of a cowardly way out if you ask me, just when I'd actually started to like the guy and enjoy his shows!!

Penky was a legend who actually enjoyed working at Fox & broadcasting across Oxfordshire but was driven away by Fox management and in particular Helen Grimes!

He even held last minute talks last week so I hear to try and stay at the station!

I was wondering where he had gone. Shame really he was quite refreshing. FOX will just be the same as other other stations that are owned by the same company. The evening and a lot of the weekend shows are broadcast all over the place, Jeremy Kyle for goodness sake what are they thinking, he is worse than dreadful. Steve Penks was good, shame he felt he had to leave, who will be next I wonder.

No more "hilarious" phone wind ups! I used to listen to DLT and Noel Edmonds doing them on radio 1 on my way to school - i'm 40 now so he wasn't exactly groundbreaking was he?!

So other than FoxFM and OxfordFM (107??? - the crap one that plays really naff R&B all the time), what other Oxford (non BBC) stations are there?

I won't bother listening to Fox any more now Penky is gone. I found him obnoxious at first, but found him quite entertaining whilst stuck in rush hour traffic! Especially when he put his wife on air too!! She should have her own radio station!

hi steve bad news for fox fm. dont know if you pushed the boundarys! but not the same in the morning. for us in range. miss you loads!!! let us in kidlington know where you are! TOTALLY agree with Warrior, what a waste of space and airtime, didn't find the 'hilarious' wind-ups anywhere near funny, and hated the way he belittled the people he worked with, it made me squirm !! - also agree with Nikki in Bicester, Jack Rocks !! 106FM - brill music !!

I loved Carl and Jo, and was so danm dissapointed when they both left.

And now that Steve Penk has left its so BORING!!!

I miss him doing the show :(

well, gotta admit it, switched to Radio 1. I had listened to you guys every mornin since you launced but now listen to Moyles, yeah he has his moments & you either like or hate him but he makes me laugh and on the way to work, it's what you need eh??? but Soz guys you've lost it!

I stopped listening a long time ago, they seemed to have the same playlist everyday. Maybe this will give them a kick up the backside and freshen up their broadcasting output.
