CYCLING: Cox rides to double top


Mark Cox finished the season as the leader of both Didcot Phoenix's Castle Points Trophy event and the Scratch Race League.

In the final event, Cox came third in the Maidenhead & District Hilly 29-mile time trial in a time of 1hr 12mins 16secs.

On the club time trial scene, Cox stormed to victory in the ten-mile Fairmile-to-Wallingford course in 21.53.

Second place went to Phil Brown (22.19) with Steve mead (23.05) third.

Other Didcot times: S Luck 23.38, S Wright 24.15, J Dothie 24.17, S Maciak 24.59, R Smith 25.08, G Mook 25.12, M Cooper 25.28, P McPherson 25.37, M Fountain 25.38, N Morris 26.05, D Collett 27.43, D Addison 28.35, L Wells 29.26, P.Annells 32.38.

Didcot's Alan Allcock recorded 21.05 in the Diamond Health & Fitness ten-mile race on the Cirencester-Cricklade course.

His time gave him equal 40th position, but more importantly, he improved on the Phoenix club record for veterans held since 1996 by Richard Abbot (21.08).
