STAFF and families at a Wallingford pre-school are celebrating top marks from Ofsted.

Rainbow Pre-School, in Bullcroft Park, has been operating for almost 40 years and looks after 87 children aged from two to five.

A recent Ofsted report judged the pre-school as “outstanding” in every area.

Julie Bywater and Fleur Gration are joint chairmen of the pre-school’s management committee.

Ms Bywater, from Wallingford, whose two-year-old son Danny goes to the pre-school, said: “The Ofsted rating reflects what a wonderful place Rainbow is. I have been so pleased with how the staff continue to deliver the most up-to-date child care in a safe, lovely environment.”

Ms Gration, also from Wallingford, whose four-year-old son Johnny attends, said: “Parents are delighted that the pre-school has been recognised in this way.

“A lot of the staff have worked here for more than ten years. They are very experienced and very dedicated.”

Staff manager Sheila Millett said: “It is great news for Wallingford that the high quality of care at the largest pre-school in the area has been recognised.

“This report makes us one of the best pre-schools in Oxfordshire and we have had lots of inquiries from families since we got the report.”

Lynda Atkins, Independent county councillor for Wallingford, said: “This is a very impressive achievement.

“Staff work incredibly hard, led by the manager, and they have been rewarded for their efforts."
