Never judge a book by its cover...well, here’s a perfect example. On the outside, it’s nothing more than a rusting shipping container. Just the kind in fact you might see at any industrial site.

But inside, a little like Doctor Who’s Tardis, it’s something else altogether.

Admittedly, it might not be everyone’s cup of tea, but Craig Farmer’s East Hendred abode is most definitely a home. And a home too in the real sense of that word.

It boasts a kitchen/living room, bedroom and shower room, as well as plumbing and electricity.

Indeed, this isn’t just a metal container into which Craig dumps his sleeping bag every night, but rather an appealing little residence that estate agents might describe as ‘snug’ or ‘cosy’.

While it might not be courted to appear on C4’s Grand Designs programme, there is no question this a home of...character.

And far more importantly than that, it is providing a home to someone who might otherwise be homeless.

Rules of course exist for a reason, but perhaps a little leniency by Vale of White Horse District Council might not go amiss?
