FIREFIGHTERS in Didcot opened up their station to put would-be recruits through their paces.
About 30 people called in at the station in Broadway on Saturday to try a number of fitness tests, including climbing ladders, carrying a ‘casualty’ and coping with cramped conditions.
Among those taking part was Hayley West, 22, from Chalgrove, who wants to become firefighter.
She said: “At the moment I am working as a nursery nurse in Watlington, but I would like to work for the fire service.
“The firefighters gave me some useful pointers.”
