Wantage NCT says if it does not find three new committee members by the end of October it will have to close down.

The parent support charity requires each of its groups to have a governing committee of four in order to run, and the Wantage group is down to one.

It has one last chance to fill the three roles before a meeting with a regional co-ordinator on October 25.

Louise Gould, mother of two and editor of the group newsletter, joined the NCT on an antenatal course and started volunteering when her daughter Georgie was a year old.

She said: “The antenatal course was a brilliant way of meeting people who have babies at the same time as you. When you have a baby at home screaming and you don’t know what to do, you sometimes need a support network.”

The Wantage branch is losing eight of its members, due to their children growing up and other commitments. They need to fill the roles of branch chair, membership co-ordinator and parent support co-ordinator, who liaises with other groups supporting parents, such as midwives.

If they have not filled the positions by October 25, committee members will be reassigned to other local groups.
