TWO people were injured after a car overturned near Abingdon yesterday morning.

A green Volvo V40 crashed at about 8.30am along the B4017 Drayton Road. The car was travelling towards Abingdon from Drayton when it went off the road.

The emergency services were on the scene at 8.42am, with two ambulance crews and a rapid response vehicle. The fire service also attended after reports that people might be trapped in the vehicle.

The road was closed through to lunchtime from the junctions with Preston Road in Abingdon and High Street in Drayton.

The female passenger suffered serious injuries to her foot and was taken to the John Radcliffe Hospital.

The driver, a man, suffered minor injuries and was also taken to the John Radcliffe.

Thames Valley Police is appealing for witnesses to the collision.
