FUN-seekers braved the wet weather yesterday to enjoy the thrills at Abingdon’s Michaelmas Fair.

Despite the rain, revellers headed to Ock Street for the annual fair, thought to be Europe’s longest street fair.

The annual two-day fair is hosted by the town council and finishes tomorrow.

Rides, carousels, shooting arcades, food stalls and other side shows have filled Ock Street and Market Place and traffic is being diverted.

Vale council administration assistant Teresa Simms was at the fair with her children Archie, 10, and Freya, eight.

She said: “The rain stopped eventually and the kids loved it. They had a great time and now we have spent all our money.”

Fairground rides return to Abingdon next Monday with the Runaway Fair.
