More than 3,000 customers were left without electricity following a power cut in the Abingdon area last night.

An intermittent fault, which began just before 10pm, caused 1,005 customers to lose power for two minutes, 556 customers to lose power for 22 minutes and another 1,0005 to be without electricity for 57 minutes.

A second fault that affected a transformer at Turner Road, Abingdon, caused a power cut which led to 204 customers losing power for 4 hours and 17 minutes.

A spokeswoman for electricity supplier SSE said: “We would like to thank customers for their patience and we pulled out all the stops to get the supply restored as quickly as possible.”
