A PENSIONER died after being hit by a car, an inquest opening heard yesterday.

Retired further education teacher Muriel Fraser, 81, from Marcham, was killed in the collision on the A4183 Oxford Road, at Lodge Hill, Abingdon, on November 26.

At Oxfordshire Coroner’s Court, assistant coroner Nicholas Graham read a report from coroner’s officer David Freeman that said Mrs Fraser had parked her car and was crossing the road to catch a bus when the accident happened.

He added: “There was little street light and a high volume of rush-hour traffic.”

A provisional inquest date has been set for Thursday, May 14, 2015.
