A SECOND world war-themed event planned for Abingdon lock this weekend has had to be cancelled due to river conditions.
A permanent memorial to the Upper Thames Patrol was set to be unveiled on Sunday along with day-long activities including Home Guard re-enactors, military vehicles and wartime food.
But organisers have decided to pull the plug due to the river flooding.
A statement said: "The decision has been made by the Environment Agency as the river is now in full flood, bursting its banks and with a lot more water to come down they anticipate the foot paths to the lock will be under water by the weekend.
"We are very disappointed, but the safety of our exhibitors and visitors must take priority."
