Police are appealing for information after a man was attacked in Hawkins Way, Wootton.
At about 1.05am yesterday, a 46-year-old man was in the road when another man came up to him and assaulted him.
The man sustained a broken cheekbone and bruising and was taken to the John Radcliffe Hospital, Oxford, for treatment for his injuries.
Det Insp Kev Elkins said: “It seems that the offender was disturbed and then walked away.
“This appears to have been an unprovoked attack but we are still investigating exactly what happened and I would ask that anyone who witnessed this assault, or the man walking away, to contact the police.”
Anyone with any information about the incident to contact Det Con Arran Cliff at Thame police station via 0845 8 505 505, or if you don’t want to talk to the police or give your name, call the Crimestoppers charity on 0800 555 111.
