Families take advantage of advance ticket prices for Sunday's Abingdon Air and Country Show

FAMILIES were this week snapping up bargain advance tickets for Sunday’s Abingdon Air and Country Show.

The tickets for the show at Abingdon airfield (Dalton Barracks) are on sale at the information centres in Abingdon, Faringdon, Wallingford and Witney, as well as at a number of other outlets.

Priced at adults £10, children (five-15) £5, senior citizens £6 and family (two plus two) £27, they compare with paying at the gate on the day, when admission will be £13 for adults, £8 for senior citizens and £6 for children. Under-fives get in free.

Organisers plan to make the show the biggest yet, with a range of air displays and static aircraft for an expected 15,000-strong crowd.

As previously reported in The Herald, the star attraction will be a display by a £10m F-16 Fighting Falcon jet and other highlights will include the RAF Battle of Britain Memorial Flight featuring Spitfire and Hurricane fighters and a Lancaster bomber.

The show also features many ground attractions, including trade/charity stalls, a crafts marquee, farmers’ market, arena displays, classic vehicles including an MG rally, and children’s amusements The Herald will be there to join in the fun, our promotions team attending with our bouncy castle. For only £1, little ones can enjoy a session of springy fun while their parents or guardians receive a copy of The Herald to keep up to date with local news, the remaining 60p going to the Oxford Children’s Hospital appeal.

The show is held in aid of the Thames Valley and Chiltern Air Ambulance.

We'll be giving it a wide berth as last year some arse in a 4 wheel drive got so close to my 9 yr old son on his bike that he fell into a bed of nettles. I do wish people would appreciate that the roads leading up to the show are SMALL!!!!!
