VETERAN councillor Charles Shouler is returning to the cabinet at County Hall in a bid to ease the workload of a colleague.
Mr Shouler, pictured, who represents Bicester South, will take on responsibility for finance, a job he held between 2005 and 2009 in the administration of former leader Keith Mitchell .
He stood down for health reasons.
Mr Shouler was appointed by new leader Ian Hudspeth so current police and finance portfolio holder Kieron Mallon can focus on policing issues. He becomes the council’s 10th cabinet member.
Mr Hudspeth said: “Kieron’s workload is going to increase a great deal with the changed arrangements in terms of the creation of a police commissioner so this is a sensible move for all concerned.
“Charles is one of Oxfordshire's County Council’s most knowledgeable and experienced councillors having first been elected in 1989. “He is an expert in terms of council finances and his support and assistance will be absolutely invaluable.”
