SCIENCE and art are colliding this summer for children at the Cornerstone Arts Centre in Didcot.

Youngsters are learning about sciences by getting their hands messy with different arts activities Rose Sheppard learnt about shadows, reflection and light with her hand-made shadow puppet theatre.

The seven-year-old said: “I made a butterfly, a dog and a puppet of my cat from home.”

Oxford artist Emma Reynard, 41, who ran the three-day course, said: “Art links in with so many things, science is just one of them. I want to link the fun of art with other elements of learning.

“The kids don’t realise they’re learning, but they are. They’re playing, but they’re also learning about the realities of the world.

“The puppet theatres were really popular.”
