DIDCOT Citizens Advice Bureau has been awarded £10,000 by Didcot Town Council to continue providing its “fantastic” service.

Councillors agreed to give the money to Oxfordshire South and Vale CAB for its Didcot adult service on High Street.

The decision was made by the full council at its meeting on Monday, October 27 at Didcot Civic Hall.

Deputy leader Margaret Davies said: “This country is still in tough financial times and many people are feeling the pinch.

“The Didcot CAB provides a service that no other organisation possibly can.

“A lot of people are using it and they make many referrals to food banks, offer fantastic advice about debt, relationships and employment.

“The town council has for decades had a good relationship with the CAB.”

The council had given the CAB similar grants in recent years, she added.

Councillors also agreed to give £550 to the Royal British Legion Didcot branch and £362 to Didcot Netball Club for its 11 and 12-year-olds.

The netball club will use the money to buy smaller balls and other equipment for younger members. Mrs Davies said the club was a “Didcot institution”.
