SOLAR panels and a JCB were stolen from a solar farm near Grove.

Thames Valley Police said thieves got into the solar farm by driving across fields near the A417 and then cutting through a perimeter fence.

The thieves struck at Elms Farm, Grove Road.

Harford Smith, who runs Elms Farm, said land on the farm was leased to a solar energy company.

He added: "The thieves came across the field during the night and took panels which were waiting to be installed - it's a real pain."

Tyre marks suggested three or four vehicles were involved in the incident, between 4pm on Sunday and 7am on Monday, officers said.

Copper wire and solar panels were taken, and the burglars also stole a JCB Telehandler to remove the stolen goods.

Police did not say how many panels were taken or their value.
