Prayers were said at church services today for the victims of last week's triple murder in Didcot.

St Peter's Church of England in the town opened its doors throughout the week for people to pray for Philip Howard and Jan and Derin Jordon.

The three were murdered on Saturday, May 23 and Ms Jordon's son Jed Allen, the only suspect, was found dead in Oxford on Monday, May 25.

St Peter's vicar Rev Hannah Reynolds said many people had visited the church to pay their respects to the family.

She said: "The events of May 23 featured again at worship this morning.

"We talked about where God is in this and why things like this happen.

"On Saturday night we finished with night prayer for Dezzy, Jan and Phil.

"There have been a number of families with small children from this area who have come in during the week.

"The town still feels really subdued and strange."

Mr Howard, Ms Jordon and Derin, aged six, had lived in Vicarage Road in the parish of St Peter's for the past two months.

Derin, known by family and friends as Dezzy, attended All Saints Church of England Primary School in the town, which has links with St Peter's.

In the days since the family's death ribbons have been tied around the town in tribute to them.

Rev Reynolds added: "We have really seen people coming together and supporting each other.

"The ribbon tying has been very, very touching and for people who did not know Dezzy it is the most touching tribute."
