A WOULD-BE robber punched a woman in the face after trying to steal her handbag in Didcot last night.
According to Thames Valley Police, the man approached a 24-year-old woman on the corner of Hagbourne Road and Bridge Close at about 11.15pm and asked for a cigarette.
The victim replied she did not smoke and the man then became aggressive, trying to steal her bag.
After failing to take the bag he punched her in the face, causing swelling and redness to her cheek and eye.
The man was described as about 6ft, slim, white and with acne on his chin and cheeks. He was wearing a black hooded top with white writing or a logo on the front, and dark trousers of a silky, mesh-like material.
