A CHEERLEADING squad are tumbling for joy after they received a donation to help pay for new uniforms.

The Didcot Diamonds Cheerleading Club were given £500 from housing developer Taylor Wimpey that was used to kit out its members.

The firm is building new homes on Didcot's Great Western Park estate.

Head coach Sue Cross said: "Our uniforms were starting to look quite tired and out of date, so we set out to replace them.

"Unfortunately the retailer we used to source our uniforms from changed its supplier, so we had to get in touch with a company based in America to ensure we could get the outfits we wanted and a great cut.

"It’s extremely important for our members that they look good in their outfits, as it will give them confidence and allow them to raise their level of performance, which will ultimately boost the club’s chance of success."

The club has been running for more than 10 years and has 46 members aged between five and 19 who compete in the junior level one and senior level two squads.

Ms Cross added: "Their new uniforms look wonderful, they have lots of sparkle to link with our name.

"This donation will make a huge difference to the team, we’ve never had a sponsor before so it’s fantastic to have this support from Taylor Wimpey.

"This sponsorship is amazing for everyone – for six years our members have been using the same uniform, whereas now they will have brand new sparkly outfits that they can feel good wearing."
