A DIDCOT arts centre is serving up the "tastiest grilled cheese sandwich in town" along with some of the finest theatre performances.

The Cornerstone Arts Centre is no longer just the place to go for the latest theatre, comedy and dance shows – it is also the place to grab a bite to eat.

After a three-week closure in August, the centre has opened its doors for residents to enjoy "Nourish" – its new café.

Centre director Emma Dolman said: "Nourish is a new café for Didcot.

"It is a place where people can come and relax in a comfy but stimulating environment and nourish their senses.

"We will be serving great quality, simple, tasty food and drink, using a large range of very local suppliers with the freshest and most delicious ingredients."

Previously an external company was running the café at the Cornerstone but after eight years the centre has taken back control and will be serving coffee, cakes, homemade soups, burgers and locally-sourced wine and beer.

Free WiFi is available at the café and youngsters can be kept entertained at the children’s play area.

Ms Dolman added: "Sitting alongside all the other food and drink outlets in Didcot, currently and to come, Nourish will provide something a little different – the tastiest grilled cheese sandwiches in town and allergy-friendly options for everything.

"We have partnered with UE coffee roasters, the award-winning coffee company based in Witney, so we will have a range of delicious roasts for people to try, as well as our own Nourish blend.

"Their sister company will be providing some really lovely pick-me-up teas, including Matcha green tea."

The centre has now launched its Autumn Season and will be welcoming big names such as Seann Walsh and Omid Djalil to Didcot.

It will also play host to Didcot’s first food festival, which takes place between Friday, November 25, and Sunday, November 27.

Ms Dolman added: "Our first day has gone really well so far – very busy, with lots of customers from mothers with babies, to artists discussing their latest project to retired people meeting up for a natter to students.

"Everyone’s been tucking in.

"We are looking forward to more and more people coming to enjoy the lovely atmosphere and try the fare.

"There will be something different to try every time you come."

The café’s opening hours will be 9am to 9pm Tuesday to Saturday and 11am to 4pm on Sundays.
