DETECTIVES investigating the rape of a woman in Didcot want to speak to seven witnesses who may have been in the area at the time the attack.

A dog walker, BMW X5 driver and runners have all been described in the force’s latest appeal for witnesses, more than two weeks on since the victim in her 30s was tripped from behind in Edmonds Park and raped.

The potential witnesses from October 11 at about 6.75pm are: 

  • A person thought to be aged in their fifties with a large beige or white dog, believed to be possibly a Labrador or Golden Retriever.
  • A woman who parked her BMW X5 in Fairacres Road just before 7pm and walked into the park.
  • Men and women running through the park in high visibility clothing, possibly part of a running group.
  • A woman walking a black dog with a muzzle, possibly a West Highland terrier.
  • A teenager who was using the outdoor gym equipment in the park near the side closest to Newlands Avenue and who possibly spoke to the victim after the incident.
  • A white man, aged in his mid twenties, who was wearing a Superdry hooded top and white knee-length shorts, who was using a silver iPhone.
  • A white man, aged in his mid thirties, with dark brown hair who was wearing all black who was walking a dog, a Jack Russell.

The victim was tripped and a man raped her. The rapist ran away in the direction of Park Road.

At about 7pm members of the public phoned police to say they had located a distressed woman in the park near Newlands Avenue.

The man is described as, 5ft 7ins or taller; wearing a dark hooded top with drawstrings, and wearing dark clothing.

Det Insp Mike Roddy said: “We would like to trace these people as they may be witnesses to the incident and could have information which would assist our enquiries.

“We are very grateful for the calls and information provided by the public since we began our investigation and would encourage people to continue to contact us even if you believe the details you have are insignificant – they could be important to the investigation.
“We previously appealed for information to trace another man who was a dog walker in the area and have successfully located this person.
