WOULD-BE thieves who ram raided Didcot's Aldi supermarket used axes and crowbars to try to steal the cash machine, police have revealed.
A blue or grey 4x4 was used to smash through the supermarket in Broadway between 2.30am and 3am on Friday.
Thames Valley Police said 'a number of men' attempted to steal the cash machine.
The thieves were disturbed by staff and fled the scene. Nothing was taken and police have confirmed nobody was injured.
It is the eighth ram raid to take place in the county in recent months.
However, police have said they are unable to confirm whether the incidents are connected.
Investigating officer, Detective Constable Christopher Cassidy, of Force CID based at Abingdon, said: "We are appealing for anyone with information in connection with this incident to come forward.
"We would ask anyone who saw a 4x4 vehicle or the offenders to please get in touch."
Anyone with information is asked to contact 101 referencing 43180088099
