SHE'S already the people's princess in Oxfordshire, now Courtney Hughes is going to be hobnobbing with real Royals.

The 20-year-old from Didcot is one of a handful of citizens from around the country who have been invited to Prince Harry's wedding.

Miss Hughes, who is famed around the county for her annual Secret Santa present drops at hospitals, hospices and care homes, didn't even realised she had been nominated for the honour by Mayor of Didcot Jackie Billington until a letter dropped through her door last week.

She said: "I didn't have a clue: I was ecstatic.

"I spoke to the Mayor that day and said thank you – it is just such a privilege.

"Prince Harry is a great inspiration with all the charity work he does, and Meghan Markle is an outspoken, strong-minded woman so I think they'll be really good together.

"My mum's really excited about it."

Luckily, Courtney gets to take mum Claire with her on the big day.

On Saturday, May 19, both of them will sit with the other special citizen guests at a reception after the couple tie the knot at St. George's Chapel in Windsor.

Although she was nominated by the Mayor for her charity work over the past five years, it was the Lord Lieutenant of Oxfordshire Tim Stevenson – the Queen's representative in the county – who chose Courtney to receive the honour.

She added: "I am a bit nervous – people keep telling me it's amazing but I don't think it's really sunk in yet."

Now she just had to find the perfect outfit, but before anyone makes any clever comments, no – she won't be wearing a Santa hat.
