A CHILDREN'S favourite dropped in to meet fans at a shopping centre - but one youngster was not too happy about it.

Peppa Pig, star of the children's animated television series of the same name, was on hand to give hugs and greetings to children at the Orchard Centre in Didcot during the Easter holidays on Thursday.

Crowds queued for a chance to meet the star whose programmes can be seen in 180 countries across the world.

But it was all a bit too much for 20-month-old Callum Russell, attending with mum Kerrie Walters.

The Ladygrove-based toddler burst into tears when introduced to the larger than life red-dressed pig.

Peppa's appearance was one of several events planned for the shopping centre which recently unveiled its £50million expansion, making room for 28 new shops and restaurants including TK Maxx, River Island, Next and Marks and Spencer.

With many of the units still not let, the centre has been using one as a 'pop up' space for yoga sessions, balloon modelling and face painting.

'Child geniuses' were trained in how to make slime and sherbet last weekend and were also treated to a live science show.

On Facebook the centre said: "It was a great turn out for Peppa Pig.

"Thanks to the teams for organising her visit and all who attended we hope you had great fun meeting the cheeky little piggy."
