DIDCOT Choral Society marked its 50th anniversary with a touch of the entente cordiale - and its first international tour.

The choir performed three concerts in France and enjoyed the experience so much that members are already booking dates for a return trip to the Continent next year.

Alison Lane, chairman of the choir, said: "This was our first international tour and we were not sure what to expect.

"We performed three concerts, one in a village church in the Picardy countryside and two in the famous Paris church of St Sulpice.

"We had a wonderful reception and the experience of singing in these magical places was quite unforgettable.

"The choir enjoyed it so much we hope to make it an annual event and we are already planning our next tour which will be to Bruges in Belgium in July."

The choir will round off its year with a performance of Schubert's Mass number 2 in G major and Magnificat by the choral composer, John Rutter.

That concert will take place on Saturday, November 29, at 7.30pm at St Peter's Church, in Newlands Avenue, Didcot.
