AN UNEXPLODED shell has been found in a garage in Postcombe, near Thame.
Thames Valley Police said eight houses in Salt Lane, had to be evacuated this morning after the old device was found by a resident at about 9.20am.
A spokeswoman said the army were called in to make the shell safe and are currently carrying out a controlled explosion.
She added that families living in the road have been taken to a nearby pub.
