A PENSIONER has died following a road accident involving a car and a lorry near Thame.

The crash happened at about 6.10pm on Monday on the A418 Oxford Road at Waterstock.

Thames Valley Police spokeswoman Connie Primmer said an HGV pulled out of the nearside layby on the Thame-bound carriageway and was in the collision with a green Ford Focus, which was travelling along the A418 towards Thame.

She added the driver of the Ford Focus, an 81-year-old man from Thame, was taken to the John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford, where he later died.

The incident caused delays between the A40 London Road and the M40 and traffic was unable to join the road from junction 8A of the M40 while police accident investigators were at the scene.

The pensioner’s next of kin have been informed.
