A WOMAN stabbed her jealous boyfriend to death after a drunken row about her lover, a court heard today.

Natasha Elderfield, 41, faces one count of murder after inflicting one fatal wound to the heart of Robert Dobinson a jury at Oxford Crown Court was told today.

The alleged stabbing happened on or near a boat moored in Abingdon, where Elderfield lived.

The court was told her lover Tony Steggles was in the cabin of the boat when 33-year-old Mr Dobinson turned up on the evening of October 19 last year.

Charles Ward-Jackson, prosecuting, said Elderfield had become infuriated by a series of phone calls from Mr Dobinson while she was entertaining Mr Steggles.

He said: "The prosecution says the defendant picked up the kitchen knife and she stabbed him in the chest intending, if not to kill him, then at the very least, in a drunken rage, to cause him serious injury."

Mr Dobinson, known locally as Robert 'Raggy' Smith, was found lying injured near moorings by the River Thames, near Bridge Street, Abingdon, but died later in hospital despite emergency surgery.

Elderfield denies murder.

The trial continues.
