A 47-year-old man has had to have facial surgery after he was attacked outside his home in Chalgrove.
The victim was at home on Wednesday, November 4, when he saw two people emptying the back of his van about 7.50pm.
Thames Valley Police said the van owner confronted the pair outside in Mill Lane and rugby tackled one to the floor. He was then struck across the face with what police belive was an iron bar.
The offenders drove off and the man was taken to the John Radcliffe Hospital where underwent facial surgery for his injuries. He has since been released from hospital.
Police are investigating the incident as grievous bodily harm.
The offenders are both white men, one about 6ft tall and the other 5ft 5ins, of stocky build and wearing black balaclavas.
Investigating officer DS Pete Scott said: "We would like to speak to anyone who was in the Mill Lane area at around 7.50pm on Wednesday and who may have seen anything suspicious that would help our investigation.
"The car used by the offenders – a faded red Vauxhall Zafira – is also quite distinctive, and so we would like to hear from anyone who has seen a vehicle matching this description in the area."
